Scarlet Pimpernell

A gorgeous Wildflower/Weed from Mums garden. I love its common name the scarlet pimpernell. Its Latin name is Anagallis avensis.

I took it from the grass edge, and put it in water to take a photo of the scarlet petals. It is even more intricate in close up than from a distance.

The flowers are small on leggy green stems that fall all over the grass. Its related to the Primrose..but what beauty is in its half inch flower :)
